Quaver class play12/21/2023 I am forced to effectively min-max my time spent practicing. Ideally I would set myself up a schedule where I practice for about 3 hours a day twice a day, but I cannot, and on weekdays I can hardly manage more than a single hour. I do not have copious amounts of time to spend on VSRG's despite them being my passion. This is even more true if you are someone like me - I work a full time job and I have another hobby I take very seriously studying to become an artist. Given this, spending our time as efficiently as possible while we practice is key. Over practicing will hurt your progression or at the very least be a waste of time. I will discuss why this is the most we can expect later in the guide (Section 3, "How you practice"), but it's very important that you don't over practice. If you balance your day well, you can realistically expect to get 2 of those sessions a day though I suspect most people would find that fairly difficult. Most people will find 1 and a half to 2 and a half hours is their limit (it can vary from day to day). This is especially important because the amount of time we can effectively learn while playing is actually quite limited in a day - about a 3 hour session is probably the maximum amount of time you can play and expect to get quality practice. We're all about efficiency 'round these parts. You can consider this guide a study on how you can get the most value per unit of time spent practicing. If you are curious about this claim, check out Section 3 - "How you practice." I'll go more into that later on, but this is backed by plenty of learning science and I will do my best to link studies. Advice like "play more" is not helpful and is often actually harmful to your improvement. It feels like there's a lot of misinformation out there. My guide will not give much advice on actual physical tips and tricks that you can do but instead will be much more focused towards teaching the reader how to turn themselves into an effective self-coach.Īnother disclaimer: I am writing this guide because I feel there is not enough actual quality information and resources that players can use to improve at VSRGs. If you are newer, you might have more success at first reading "How To "Actually" Improve!" written by Yui in the guides section here. You may still look through it and find helpful tips and tricks as a newer player, but much of what I discuss here will be for the competitive player who wants to commit towards becoming better and improving at the game. Warning 2: this guide will be geared more towards the advanced/intermediate level of player. If it seems overwhelming or too much, just pick a few things to work on and focus on them instead. This guide discusses the ideal and what we should ultimately strive for. If most of this stuff is new to you, it is best to pick things out one at a time and work on them gradually. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO EVERYTHING IN THIS GUIDE.

Taking time out12/21/2023 a lack of contact with supervisors whilst out of training. a lack of guidance on the exit and re-entry process While some excellent examples of tailored and accessible support were provided for returners, trainees also reported: The biggest concern for returners was a lack of confidence in their clinical knowledge and technical skills when they returned to training after time out of programme. Returning to training after time out of practice is a challenging process and that the associated impact on confidence poses the main concern to trainees and trainers alike. HEE received strong feedback that support for trainee returners is inconsistent across location and specialty. HEE engaged in an evidence-gathering exercise engaging with trainees, medical Royal Colleges, the BMA Junior Doctor’s Council, trainers, educators, employers, HEE’s local offices, the Leadership Academy, patient representatives and the General Medical Council. Here you can get more information and access a comprehensive range of resources, designed to support trainees returning to work. Here you can access local office pages for further information on SuppoRTT in your area. Just talk to your supervisor about anything that you feel you need. The SuppoRTT programme offers resources for everyone returning to training: each regional HEE office offers a slightly different "menu", but because the programme is individually tailored, there is room to request additional resources if you feel that these would benefit you. You can access personalised advice and support through your local HEE office and you will be encouraged to develop an individualised 'return to training' package with your supervisor, using local HEE SuppoRTT Team processes. It is important to take the time to complete your pre-absence and pre-return forms if at all possible, because this is how SuppoRTT funding is made available. Get in touch with your local HEE team as soon as you know you will be taking time away, as this allows you to plan your time out and your return as much as possible. Time out of training is coordinated by local HEE offices. Funding for other courses or training, as individually required.Online and face-to-face refresher courses and simulation training.Funding for a period of supernumerary time. These are highly committed, hard-working and intelligent individuals who want to get back into training, and it’s right that we value and support them to restore their skills and confidence.” Professor Wendy Reid, Health Education England Director of Education and Quality, and Medical Director What can SuppoRTT offer? In many cases it will also benefit their learning, for example, should they seek to develop their skills elsewhere. “I know that there are a variety of reasons why a doctor might take approved time out of programme. SuppoRTT was developed to enable trainees to have a safe, supported return to work by offering a wide range of learning and support resources, which can be used to create a bespoke package of support which suits their individual needs. This can be for a wide variety of personal and professional reasons, such as further training, caring responsibilities, ill health and research. At any time, around 10% of the 50,000 trainee doctors in England are taking approved time out of training.

Spelltower free12/21/2023 Whether you’re on your first game or your thousandth, you’re on equal footing with everyone else. You can’t stockpile currency or power-ups to give you a leg up. Best of all, outside of a few leaderboards and achievements, there’s no grind. The rules are simple, the different modes vary just enough to keep things from getting stale, and the randomized boards mean it will be a game that stays on my iPhone for a very long time. It manages to hold up after all these years, perhaps in large part due to its simplicity. I know I’m nearly a decade late to the party, but I’m so glad I finally got to experience the magic of SpellTower+. There are a few minor bugs, but I expect those to be fixed in due time and I wouldn’t let them stop you from playing - or buying the full game. All these little details show that SpellTower+ comes from someone who plays mobile games himself and knows what kinds of features to include. For instance, I have a Zen game in progress that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. So if you have a good game going, you don’t have to finish it just to get your score to show on the leaderboards. And for those who don’t like to be rushed, scores are uploaded mid-game. If you unlock the full game, you even get detailed statistics that include a list of all the words you’ve found. Some other nice features that are included are iCloud sync, both landscape and portrait support on iPad, and dark mode. It’s not ideal, but I trust that over time these instances will become very rare. But if you tell the developer about those, he’ll add them in an update. That said, I’ve lost a few times with words that should have been accepted. It’s surprisingly satisfying to win a challenge and then be able to use that word right away. If you’re wrong, you lose one of your three challenge points for the day. If you’re right, you get a point added to your total of challenges won. If you create a word that the game doesn’t recognize, just challenge it. Whatever your preferred play style, there’s something here for you.Īnother interesting feature is the ability to challenge a word. If you prefer more of a challenge, try your hand at Rush, which is the same as Puzzle but with a timer, or ExPuzzle, which has numbers that go all the way up to 8 instead of just 6. And if you find that too hard, there’s a Zen mode that does away with the numbered tiles. There’s no timer, though, so you can take as long as you need to think of the best words. If you make too many small words, your score might be too low by the time the 6’s make an appearance, and it will be harder to recover. So for instance, if there’s a 5 on an E tile, you can’t use that E in a four-letter word and instead have to find a longer word to use it with. A numbered letter means you can only use it in a word that’s at least that long. The catch is, after a while you’ll start getting letters with numbers on them. The idea is to keep making words and increasing your score before any of the tiles reach the top of the screen. Each time you make a word, another row gets added to the bottom. My personal favorite is Puzzle Mode, which starts you off with five rows of letters. You can even have multiple games going at once, as each mode has its own separate save slot. While the basic Tower and Puzzle modes are the ones you’ll likely play the most, each of the others adds enough to make it worth playing when you’re in the mood for a change. But if you want more, you can make a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 to remove ads and unlock six more modes - Search, Zen, ExPuzzle, Double Puzzle, Bubble Puzzle and Blitz. You can play those as much as you want without spending a penny, as long as you don’t mind the occasional ad. You get Tower, Puzzle, Rush, and two daily challenges. This is a high score chaser at its core, and each mode has its own global leaderboard so you can compete with others around the world.įive modes are included in the free version of the game, which is supported by pop-up ads. There are eleven different modes, but the common denominator among them all is that you want to make words that will score big points. But on top of that, you get bonus points for using a gold tile, blue tiles clear a whole line, and a word made of five or more letters will clear all the tiles touching them, as well. The in-game tutorial does a good job explaining it, so I won’t get into too much detail. Also, letters can connect in any which way, even criss-crossing. The main difference here is that you’re not given any words to find - it’s all on you to come up with them. It’s similar to a word search, where you’re shown a page full of letters and you need to find specific words by connecting them in a line. For those of you unfamiliar with the game, let me explain how it works.

James Covington, an engineer developing sensors at the University of Warwick in the UK, isn’t convinced that such a device will ever be used in cancer clinics. He also hopes to be able to use the brain and antennae in a portable device, which could then be tested on real people. But Saha hopes to use electrodes that can record from more neurons, which would allow him to get recordings from the brain of a single locust. It currently takes recordings from 40 neurons to get a clear signal, which means the system requires between six and 10 locust brains. In the experiment, the team took brain recordings from multiple locusts and combined their responses. Natalie Plank, who is developing nanomaterial-based health sensors at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, thinks the work is “super cool.” “The potential of just being able to breathe on something and then know if you’re at risk for cancer … is really powerful,” she says. Cerebro is a weekly podcast hosted by Connor Goldsmith, where he and a guest sit down and talk about the history of a single character from the X-Men comics. It is the first time a living insect brain has been tested as a tool to detect cancer, says Saha. This podcast is meant for entertainment and education purposes and is geared towards medical providers who work in the NICU. The patterns of electrical activity recorded were so distinct that when the team puffed the gas from one cell type onto the antennae, they could correctly identify whether the cells were cancerous from the recording alone. The locusts’ brains responded to each of the cell types differently.

It just seems so much easier! But, in the long term, where there is no true understanding of a person’s ideas, feelings and intentions, there can be no true consensus and no true buy-in. As Stephen Covey noted, in our haste to respond with our own ideas, we often substitute our own assumptions for the true understanding that might be gained from a few minutes of listening. It can be rather funny but it can be frightening too. Then it occurs to you: “Are they understanding the other side’s position on this?” In some cases, you may find yourself wondering if they aren’t really saying much the same thing. Frustrations mount, voices are raised and, in the ensuing chaos, no one appears to be listening. Two people, or possibly two “factions”, just cannot see eye-to-eye. You may have experienced this situation: you’re in a team meeting trying to come to an agreement on a basic course of action when the decision making process stalls. Covey describes an approach for helping us to overcome our assumptions and truly understand another person’s point of view. In his classic book, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, the late Stephen R. Whether we are interacting with family members, clients or members of our work teams, our own assumptions about their intentions and meaning can be one of the greatest impediments to understanding and agreement.
